Sears takes home huge honor to open the season

Senior Cade Sears set the tone for the HCHS Cyclones Thursday at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center in Ames, taking home the 3A Athlete of the Meet Award.
“It’s a huge honor for anyone if you’re the 3A player of anything,” said Cyclone Head Coach Sam Brummer. “You’ve done something well to help your team and Cade obviously did that for us.”

Wolves ready for new track season ahead

After a strong 2023 campaign in which the IKM-Manning Wolves boys track and field team took many high finishes, including taking 2nd place at the Denison and Carroll Co-Ed events and the Raider, Ace Nelson, and Bob Clark Relays, along with 3rd place finishes at the Jim Yunek Relays and BV HS Co-Ed Track Meet, the Wolves are ready for a new season.

Lady Vikings preparing for new track season

Coming off a season in which the AHSTW Lady Vikings track and field team had some high finishes, including 2nd place at the Riverside Track Meet, 4th at the Griswold Tiger Relays, 6th at the AHSTW Co-Ed Meet, and 8th place at the WIC HS Track Championships and Southwest Valley May Co-Ed Meet, they are ready to get back to work.

Judy L. Thurston

Judy L Thurston, born February 8, 1944, in Longmont, Colorado, passed away on February 11, 2024, in Harlan, Iowa. A beloved Nana to four grandkids and nine great-grandkids, she was also known as Aunt Missy to many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. When she was six years old, their mother moved Judy and her three sisters from the farm in Berthoud, CO, to the town of Fair Oaks, CA.

Bonnie Lea Buman

Bonnie Lea Buman was born on June 7, 1942, the daughter of Fabian and Delores (Coven) Brada in Elyria, Ohio. She was baptized and later confirmed into the Catholic faith. Bonnie received her education from Widefield High School in Security, Colorado. She graduated from Regis University in Denver, Colorado with her teaching degree. She graduated top of her class in both high school and college.

Vikings ready for new track and field season

After a season in which the Vikings finished high up at multiple events, including the Griswold/Stanton Coed Meet and Tiger Coed Relays taking home 3rd place, and the AHSTW and Southwest Valley Coed Meet finishing 2nd, the boys track and field team is ready for a new season.

Cyclones open track and field season March 7

After a strong finish during its 2023 campaign in which they brought home a third place trophy, the HCHS Cyclones boys track and field team is ready to get back to work.
“It’s definitely exciting to kind of get rolling,” said Cyclone Head Coach Sam Brummer. “The weather has cooperated better this year than it has in years past. That’s made the transition into track and field season very nice.”

Partlow commits to Kansas Wesleyan for softball

AHSTW Senior Viking Graycen Partlow will be continuing her softball career at Kansas Wesleyan following the conclusion of her high school days.
“I’m very excited to play,” Partlow said. “I’ve loved softball as long as I’ve been playing it. Since I was a little girl, my dad has instilled that love in me, and I just love the game and everything about it.”

Cyclones gear up for new track & field season

In just over two weeks, the HCHS Cyclones girls track and field will begin a new season starting March 16 at the Northwest Missouri State High School Invite and Cyclone head coach Jenny Hamilton said she’s hoping the team avoids the mistakes they made last year.

Cyclones eliminated by Mustangs at State

The HCHS Cyclones girls basketball team has wrapped up its 2023-2024 campaign, finishing with an overall record of 20-4, including starting the season 8-0 with their first win of the season coming against Treynor 58-40.
“It’s been so much fun,” said Cyclone Senior Hannah Sonderman. “It’s such a fun group of girls. We all love each other.”
