 SERGEANT BLUFF -- Slugging two home runs and 10 total hits off Harlan Community pitcher Emily Brouse, the Sergeant Bluff-Luton softball team also took advantage of four HCHS errors to beat the Cyclones 13-3 in five innings last Wednesday.

HCHS sweeps Shenandoah, Creston with ease

 HARLAN -- The Harlan Community baseball team extended one of its best starts in school history on Wednesday and Thursday nights, sweeping Hawkeye Ten doubleheaders against Shenandoah and Creston to improve to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference.

Lady Vikes soccer ousted by talented Tri-Center squad

Baseball: Vikings top Underwood 7-5

 UNDERWOOD -- The AHSTW baseball team held off Underwood 7-5 in Western Iowa Conference action Friday night, improving to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the WIC. The Vikings scored four runs in the top of the fifth to go ahead 7-2 before the Eagles answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Junior R.J. Harris, pitching in relief of Blake Osbahr, recorded the final eight outs to notch a save.

Eagles top Lady Vikes 10-3

 UNDERWOOD -- The host Underwood Eagles plated seven runs in the first two innings en route to a 10-3 softball win over AHSTW here Friday night. The Lady Vikes fell to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Western Iowa Conference. AHSTW totaled 11 hits in defeat, led by Madison Rasmussen’s 3-for-4 night, one RBI and one run scored.

Greve makes MIAA Academic Honor Roll

 WARRENSBURG, MO. -- For the second straight year, University of Central Missouri sophomore bowler Andrea Greve was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for her performance in the classroom. Andrea is the daughter of Dave and Diana Greve of Harlan. Greve was one of eight Jennies named to the conference’s Academic Honor Roll.

Markham named Central College’s Male Athlete of Year

 PELLA -- Former Atlantic standout Sam Markham was chosen as the Central College Male Athlete of the Year this past spring as part of the school’s annual Dutchies Awards. Sam is the son of Mark and Pat Markham and the grandson of Betty Markham, Harlan.
