Sonderman-Kline will wed in July ceremony

    PORTSMOUTH -- Guyle and Julie Sonderman of Portsmouth announce the engagement of their daughter, Abby of Portsmouth to Jerome Kline, Missouri Valley. Jerome is the son of Kenneth W. and Mara Kline, Missouri Valley.    The couple will exchange marriage vows on July 1 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth.

    HARLAN -- Kenneth Coenen of Harlan will mark his 95th birthday on June 19. A family celebration will be held in Omaha on Father’s Day.

 HARLAN -- A third Hawkeye Ten loss in as many nights dropped the Harlan Community softball team to 1-4 in conference play and 4-8 overall on Wednesday, but the Cyclones are truly not far away from sporting the inverse of those win-loss records. In Monday’s home game vs. Lewis Central, the score was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth when HCHS failed to take advantage of bases-loaded, no-out situation.

 LOGAN -- Cody Chapman allowed two unearned runs in the first inning before putting up zeros the rest of the way Tuesday night as the IKM-Manning baseball team rallied past Logan-Magnolia for a 4-2 win. Chapman (1-0) finished with a two-hitter, walking four and striking out six in a complete game effort.

Spartan baseball team improves to 7-0
