    HARLAN -- Marilyn Fox, 68, Harlan, died June 9 at her home.    Services were held Monday, June 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Cuppy’s Grove Cemetery.    Fox is survived by her husband, Bobby J.

Agnes Riesgaard, 83

    ELK HORN -- Agnes Ann Riesgaard, 83, Elk Horn, died June 9 at the Salem Lutheran Home.    Services will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avoca with burial in the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca.  A prayer service was held Monday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca.  Visitation was Monday from 5-8 p.m.

Irene Greer, 91

    HARLAN -- Irene A. Greer, 91, Harlan, died June 10 at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan.    Services will be held Wednesday, June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  A wake service will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.

William True, 85

    AVOCA -- William “Bill” Frank True, 85, Avoca, died June 9 at his home.    Services will be held Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at United Church of Avoca with inurnment at a later date at the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca.  A prayer service will be held Tuesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca.  Visitation is Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

Leonard Petsche, 83

    HARLAN -- Leonard Petsche, 83, Harlan, died June 10 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center.    Services will be held Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Wednesday, June 14 from 3-8 p.m.

Michael Robinson, 69

    HARLAN -- Michael Ray Robinson, 69, Harlan, died June 7 at his home.    No services are planned.    Robinson is survived by his wife, Sheryl Robinson, of Boone; daughters Kaylee Robinson and Emily Robinson, both of Boone; and sister Lori Cronin of Lees Summit, MO.    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of arrangements. 

County reviews fire safety with fireworks

COUNTY – The Shelby County Board of Supervisors are reviewing a change to the county’s local burning ban ordinance due to the passage of fireworks legislation by the Iowa Legislature this past spring.    Shelby County Emergency Management Director Bob Seivert said the passage of the fireworks bill allows for some local control and rules which will be in the best interest of the safety of the public.    Emergency management is requesting the co
