Capital Improvement Levy on ballot in Elk Horn

ELK HORN -- Elk Horn residents will head to the polls today to cast ballots on an issue the city is proposing to establish a capital improvement reserve fund and levy a tax not to exceed 67.5 cents per $1,000 taxable valuation for the purpose of maintenance and repair of the swimming pool and maintenance and construction of municipal buildings.    The levy would be in effect for 10 years.

LINCOLN, NE - Funeral services are Sat., Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at the First Plymouth Church, Lincoln, NE for three-time HCHS Supt. Bob Broomfield who died on Thursday, Nov. 9 in his sleep at their home. Broomfield and his wife, MJ, were also the co-directors of  Shelby County's economic development arm, called Developsource from 2010-2013.

Cyclones' massive comeback falls short in 41-39 loss

CEDAR FALLS - Down 35-0 at one point in the first half, the Cyclones stormed back in the second half to almost pull off the upset of the season, losing 41-39 in the Class 3A semifinals at the UNI-Dome.
