    ELK HORN -- Bernice Wilhemine Mordhorst, 103, Elk Horn, died November 13 at the Salem Lutheran Home.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Portsmouth.  A wake service will be held Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Visitation is Friday from 5-8 p.m.

County won’t share attorney services

SCCS Principal DeWeerd resigns; Anderson will serve in interim

HARLAN -- Shelby County Catholic School announced Friday, Nov. 10  that Josh DeWeerd has resigned his 16 month post as principal of the school effective immediately.    Previous principal Ann Anderson will serve as principal in the interim while SCCS searches for a permanent replacement.    DeWeerd was originally placed on administrative leave from the school the previous day, Thursday.

    HARLAN -- Edna Poepsel, 85, Harlan, died Monday, Nov. 6 in Omaha, NE.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  A rosary will be held Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Friends may call Friday from 3-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.
