Vikings defeat Trojans on the road

On Tuesday, The Vikings boys varsity soccer team took on the Atlantic Trojans on their field and shut them down, 7-1. Five of the seven goals on the night came from seniors Ramon Ciurana and Raydden Grobe. Ciurana had two, while Grobe had three.

Vikings have strong night at WIC Conference Coed Track Meet

On Tuesday, the AHSTW Vikings competed in the WIC Conference Coed Track Meet. They were one of nine schools to compete in the event.
“Overall, we had a good night last night when it came to previous times,” said Vikings Boys Head Track and Field Coach Jackson Renberg. “There were many personal bests which was awesome to see.”
Renberg highlighted some athletes in the distance medley competition who had standout performances.

Wolves perform strong at WIC Conference Coed Track Meet

It was a cold night at AHSTW Community School as nine schools competed in the WIC Conference coed track meet. Wolves head girls track and field coach Emma Konkler spoke on behalf of their performance.
“Overall our strongest finishes came from our distance group,” Konkler said. “Emily Albertsen and Morgan Hanson both pushed each other to place in both the 3000 and the 1500.”

HCHS Girls Golf takes eighth at Trojan Invitational

On Tuesday, the HCHS girls varsity golf team took home eighth place with a total of 435 strokes played in the Trojan Invitational at Nishna Hills Golf Club. The girls finished just two behind Shenandoah. One girl on the roster stood out for the Cyclones.

HCHS Boys Varsity Golf takes ninth at Trojan Invitational

On Tuesday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team placed ninth in the Trojan Invitational with a total of 361 strokes.
“I thought the team as a whole did a good job limiting penalty strokes today,” said HCHS Head Golf Coach Chad Swanson. “Atlantic Country Club is a tight course and we kept the ball in play and avoided going deep on these greens that are often tucked into boundaries.”

Cyclones win third straight game

Tuesday night, The HCHS girls varsity soccer team went on the road to Denison High School and came away with a 3-2 victory for their third consecutive win.

HCHS Boys Soccer shuts down Council Bluffs Lincoln

On Monday night, the HCHS boys varsity soccer team played the Council Bluffs Lincoln Lynx and shut them down, 2-0.
“It was a huge win for us last night against CB Abraham Lincoln,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Dave Voge. “We have struggled against them in the last three or four contests, but this time we turned the tables on the scoreboard.”

Cyclones win tough battle over Saintes

It was a cold and rainy night at Merrill Field, but with about nine minutes on the clock, senior goalkeeper Lexi Musich saved the day by stopping St. Albert from tying up the game.
“That was a huge one,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Jared Boysen. “She laid out with her body and made a great save on that.”

Dan Carl Knudsen, 67

 HARLAN -- Dan Carl Knudsen, 67, of Harlan passed away April 27, 2022. Visitation with family was Monday at Faith Family Church in Harlan from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetry. Survivors include father, Lyle H.

Esports and gaming is growing at HCHS

HARLAN — Students at Harlan Community High School recently completed their Spring Esports season, finishing in the top 20 in the midwest region.  The division included teams from over 150 schools from 16 States and Canada.  This was the first year that HCHS has participated in high school Esports.  The High school gaming club started in the fall of 2020 with the leadership of several students and grew very quickly.  Within a month the club had
