Cyclones drop golf match to the Trojans by four strokes

Monday, the HCHS girls golf team competed against the Trojans at Atlantic’s Nishna Hills Golf Club and lost by four strokes, 189-193.
“I thought we played tough in real adverse weather conditions,” said Cyclones Head Coach Todd Bladt. “The girls had to battle the weather and battle a tough Atlantic team. They’re a state level contention team and we almost got them on their home course in tough conditions.”

Cyclones drop doubleheader to Stars at home

The HCHS boys baseball team opened their season at home Monday night against the Sioux City North Stars, dropping both games of a doubleheader 9-0 and 10-8.
“It was a little bit of a disappointing effort,” said Cyclones Head Coach Heath Stein. “In all aspects of the game, we didn’t throw the ball very well. We gave a lot of free bases on the mound and defensively, we gave them more free bases.”

The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to express gratitude to nurses that perform extraordinary care and compassion every day.  The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Schwieso makes history in 4-1 home win

Cyclone Sophomore Aubrey Schwieso made history Monday night at Merrill Field, scoring her 28th goal of the season, setting a new single season record in Cyclone soccer history.
“It’s really awesome, but credit to my teammates,” Schwieso said. “It feels pretty good, but it’s all because of them.”

Cyclones punch ticket to 2A-8 Second Round

Less than five minutes into Monday’s 2A-8 First Round Tournament Game, Junior Cyclone Elmer Argueta knocked in the first goal of the game en route to a 7-0 victory over the Atlantic Trojans.
Argueta scored four goals, Ian Shelton had two and Nolan Schwery had one on a headbutt.

Cyclones qualify 9 for state championships

Sophomore Lindsey Sonderman was the lone Cyclone who punched her ticket for the state championship meet in Des Moines after competing with the HCHS girls track and field team at the State Qualifying Meet at Carroll Athletic Stadium.

Cyclones open up baseball season at home Monday

The HCHS baseball team is preparing for a new season set to get underway May 15 at home against the Sioux City North Stars and Cyclones Head Coach Heath Stein said he’s excited.
“I believe we got 10 spring league games in to try and prepare for the upcoming season,” he said. “Guys have been great, work ethic has been great, attitudes are great and we’re just ready to roll.”

Cyclone softball prepares for new season

Senior Ella Plagman said she’s excited to be a leader on the HCHS softball team when it begins its new season May 22 at home against the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs.
“I'm super excited to get the season going,” said Senior Ella Plagman. “We're going to have a pretty young team this year, so it'll be fun to build a bond with all the girls. I'm excited to see what aspects everyone is going to bring to the team.”
