IKM-Manning Homecoming kicks off this week

    MANNING -- Homecoming Week 2016 has begun at IKM-Manning with a week of spirit days and preparations will culminate with the pep rally, parade, and big game on Friday, September 16.

SHELBY -- Austin Owen of Harlan Community Intermediate School plays an old-fashioned yard game called roll the wheel at Carstens Farm Days Friday, Sept. 9.  Approximate 350 kids from AHSTW, HCS, Underwood, Tri-Center, Shelby County Catholic School, Mindful Learning School and Home School Students attended the event.

Supervisors authorize $5,000 to minimize critter damage

    COUNTY -- Shelby County will pay $25 each for beaver tails from November 5-April 15 as part of an ongoing effort to minimize the damage the critters cause to roadways and structures throughout the county.    The county’s board of supervisors re-authorized the bounty this month, with a total dollar limit outlay of $5,000. Payments will be made on a first come, first served basis.

Three Cyclone harriers earn medals at AL Invite

Wolves fall 50-8 at Class 2-A Titans

 LAKE CITY -- South Central Calhoun scored three long touchdowns in the opening four minutes, 16 seconds and never looked back Friday night, rolling past IKM-Manning 50-8 in the second and final non-district game for both squads. The Wolves dropped to 1-1 going into Friday’s Class 1-A, District 7 opener at OA-BCIG (Ida Grove), while South Central Calhoun bounced back nicely from a 56-20, Week 1 loss to Carroll.
