Reinig- Peters wed

    PORTSMOUTH -- Regina Reinig and Travis Peters both of Ames were married at St. Mary, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portsmouth on August 5, 2017. The 2:30 p.m. double ring ceremony was performed by Father David Smith.    Parents of the couple are Tom and Denise Reinig, Portsmouth; and Tony and Pat Peters, Cedar Falls.

Card shower will help Max Klindt celebrate 89th

PANAMA - The steaks were cooked to perfection, the banquet hall filled to the rim and the annual Cattlemen’s banquet was the place to be for great food, an outstanding community auction and friendship.  
 

Harley Ploen, 93

    EARLING     -- Harley Edwin Ploen, 93, Earling, died February 1 at the Little Flower Haven Nursing Home in Earling.    A celebration of life open house will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the Little Flower Haven Chapel in Earling.  Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery on Sunday, Feb.

Thomas Pattison, 60

    WOODBINE -- Thomas M. Pattison, 60, Woodbine, died February 3 at Rose Vista Home, Inc.    Services will be held Friday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan.  Visitation is Friday from noon-2 p.m. at the church.    Pattison is survived by mother Ruthe I. (Hetzler) Pattison of Harlan and father Wilbur “Pat” A.

Arthur Lister, 89

    HARLAN -- Arthur R. Lister, 89, Harlan, died Thursday, Feb. 1 in Harlan.    Graveside service and burial was held Monday, Feb. 5 at 10:30 a.m.

JoAnn Rose, 71

    HARLAN -- JoAnn Kathryn Rose, 71, Harlan, died January 31 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial at a later date in the Harlan Cemetery.  A wake service was held Monday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Family greeted friends Monday from 5-8 p.m.

Kuemper’s dozen treys doom Cyclone girls, 67-47

 CARROLL (Jan. 26) -- It wasn’t that Harlan Community played poorly Friday night; the Kuemper Catholic girls simply played very well. Knocking down 12-of-19 three-pointers, the Knights had six different players hit a trey and pulled away in the fourth quarter to hand the Cyclones a 67-47 conference defeat.
