Ten area gridders named Academic All-State

 DES MOINES – Eight Harlan Community seniors were recently recognized for being named to the Class 3A Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA) Academic All-State Team. Two seniors from AHSTW were also honored on the Class 1A team. Seniors from HCHS receiving the honor for 2017 include: Jacob Bartley, Caleb Brouse, Tyler Buman, Patrick Fah, Nick Foss, Dave Hoffmann, Will Hoffmann and CJ Schechinger.

Cyclones survive Kearney Catholic at Nebraska Prep Classic

 OMAHA, NEB. (Jan. 20) -- Shane Chamberlain (21) and Logan Klaassen (19) combined for 40 points last Saturday as the Harlan Community boys basketball team fought off a tough challenge to defeat Kearney Catholic 54-45 in the Nebraska Prep Classic at Ralston Arena. Klaassen knocked down three 3-pointers in the third quarter, including two in the final minute that gave HCHS a 41-32 advantage.

Cattlemen’s annual banquet set for Feb. 3

HCS has clean audit; will continue to watch expenses
