    HARLAN -- Bruce Heilesen, 66, Harlan, died April 9 at his home.    Services were held Thursday, April 12 at 11 a.m.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

    COUNTY -- Harlan Community High School students spread out across the school district Wednesday, April 11 as part of their annual Community Service Day.  Freshmen-seniors helped clean up homes, parks, etc. as part the event.    Temperatures had rebounded from an unseasonably cold April to more than 60 degrees on Wednesday so students could provide the community service.

Still no word on cause of Harlan’s stink

Dutchik-Kramer plan June wedding in Earling

Cyclone girls finish fifth in tough Koos Relays field

 HARLAN (April 5) -- Considering the days of cold weather that came before and after the Koos Invitational Girls Track Meet, the 13 teams competing at Merrill Field Thursday night found conditions to be downright favorable. When it was over, two long-standing meet records fell by the wayside, Harlan Community junior Chloe Hansen earned two gold medals and the Cyclone girls placed fifth among a field of teams that traveled from as far away as E

HCHS boys finish sixth at Ram Relays

 GLENWOOD (April 5) -- Nick Foss and Michael Erlemeier combined to score 38 of Harlan Community’s 65 points in four events Thursday night as the Cyclone boys finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Glenwood Ram Relays. Foss bagged the team’s only two gold medals of the meet, winning the long jump with a mark of 21 feet, eight inches and winning the 200-meter dash in 23.19 seconds.
