RC Corner Plaza plans to open May 1 in downtown Harlan

    HARLAN -- Years ago, Tony Carter reminisced with his father, Ron, as they walked around the downtown Harlan square. Ron told Tony how he remembered the downtown buildings looking and what businesses used to be in which building as he was growing up. They talked about multiple buildings and making improvements.    After he retired, Ron would assist Tony with his businesses by helping out and if needed running errands.

    HARLAN -- Carlos Renato Contreras Torres, 50, Harlan, died April 14 at his home.    A rosary service will be held Saturday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Family will greet friends Saturday from 9-11 a.m.

 HARLAN (April 13) -- The Harlan Community boys golf team was defeated by Lewis Central 205-219 at the Harlan Golf and Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Titans top HCHS in boys tennis

 HARLAN (April 13) -- Seniors Brock Bruns and Mitchell Rueschenberg combined for all three Cyclone wins as the Harlan Community boys tennis team was defeated by Lewis Central 6-3 Tuesday. HCHS dropped to 0-2 on the season going into its Thursday dual at Audubon and will host Kuemper on Monday afternoon. Bruns trailed early in his number one singles match vs. LC freshman Christian Jensen before taking control the rest of the way to win 10-4.

Cyclone boys lose twice at ADM Soccer Tourney

 ADEL (April 9) -- The Harlan Community boys soccer team was defeated twice at the ADM Tournament Friday night, losing to Des Moines East 5-1 and falling to the host Tigers 3-0. The Cyclones dropped to 0-4 on the season. “We are still trying to find our identity and learn to play together as a team,” stated HCHS head coach Dave Voge. “As the Des Moines East game went on we got better, but have a ways to go.

Rasmussen leads Wolves to first in home invitational

 MANNING (April 10) -- Led by Kyler Rasmussen’s runner-up medalist round of 78, IKM-Manning placed first in Saturday’s five-team home invitational at the M&M Golf Course. The Wolves won the meet with a team score of 345, followed by Underwood 353, Boyer Valley 371, ACGC 380 and Coon Rapids-Bayard 414. Underwood’s Coby Fink was the tournament medalist with an 18-hole score of 75, shooting rounds of 36 and 39.

IKM-M golf teams win season opener vs. Riverside

 MANNING (April 9) -- Tyler Brandt and Bre Muhlbauer earned medalist honors on Friday as the IKM-Manning golf teams opened the season with home dual wins against Riverside. The IKM-M boys scored a 168 at the M&M Golf Course while the girls scored a 249. Riverside did not have enough players for a team score. Brandt shot a 40 over nine holes to earn boys medalist honors and Kyler Rasmussen was the runner-up medalist with a 42.
