HCS finalizes ESSER 3 grant funding plan

    HARLAN – The Harlan Community Schools had laid out its plans on how to spend the $1,451,851 in federal ESSER 3 (American Rescue Plan Act Elementary and Secondary Emergency School Relief Fund) dollars it has received.    The HCS Board of Education approved the plan this month.    Funding will go for everything from staffing needs to physical plant audits and facility needs such as furniture and equipment.

    DENISON -- Darren “Woody” Anthony Pauley, 55, Denison, died August 14 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.    Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Panama with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Panama.    Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 17 from 5-8 p.m. at St.

Norman Mathiasen, 91

    HARLAN -- Norman Mathiassen, 91, Harlan, died August 12 at his home.    Services were held Monday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m.
