HCHS Vocalists Selected for Honor Choirs

HARLAN -- Congratulations to the many vocalists from Harlan Community High School who have participated in honor choir performances recently, selected for Wartburg’s Meistersinger Honor Choir and the Southwest Iowa Honor Choir held at Iowa Western Community College.    The Southwest Iowa Honor Choir was titled Gettin’ in Treble, and was hosted by the Southwest Iowa Choral Directors Association.

    FERGUS FALLS, MN -- Word has been received of the death of Joy Levsen, 85, Fergus Falls, MN, formerly of Shelby County, who died January 14 at the Pioneer Care Center.    Services were held Thursday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.

    HARLAN -- June Petsche, 84, Harlan, died January 27 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Friday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday from 9-11 a.m.

Kenneth Christensen, 85

    HARLAN -- Kenneth “Casey” Edwin Christensen, 85, Harlan, died January 27 at University of Nebraska Medical Center.    Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Tuesday from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.    Christensen is survived by granddaughter Amanda (Taylor) Pappas of Omaha, NE; and friend Debbie Stendrup of Harlan.

    HARLAN -- Jeanette L. Chipman, 92, Harlan, died January 30 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is 9-11 a.m.
