HARLAN -- Nancy Boettger of Harlan was selected as the 2022 Iowa Mother of the Year®. She is the 73rd woman in Iowa history to hold this honor. In the early 1980s, after working beside her husband on the farm and also raising their four children for 15 years, Boettger earned a BA in education and taught middle school. She then became the Director of Education at the hospital in Harlan.

HANCOCK -- DeLores Ann Krummel, 88, Hancock, died February 26 at Primrose Retirement Community. Services will be held Friday, March 4 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca with burial in the Silver Valley Cemetery at Hancock. Family will greet friends Thursday, March 3 from 5-7 p.m.
NEW BRIGHTON, MN -- Becky Jo Kersten, 68, New Brighton, MN, died Friday, March 5 in New Brighton. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m.

ELK HORN -- Funeral services for 74 year old Janet Jensen of Elk Horn will be held on Monday, Feb. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton with burial at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton. The Ohde Funeral Home in Kimballton is in charge of arrangements, where friends my visit with the family from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. Jensen died on Friday, Feb. 18 at her home in Elk Horn.
HARLAN -- Rocket Herning, 76, Harlan, died January 6. Rocket is survived by his wife, Karen; sons Thomas (Jackie) Schumacher; Roger (Jackie) Schumacher; Dan (Sarah) Schumacher; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
