Richard (Dick) Harold Klein was born on November 3, 1942, the youngest of six children born to Alfons and Marcella Klein.  Dick grew up on a farm outside of Earling, Iowa and attended St.

Robert J. McCormack, 98, died Thursday, January 5, 2023 at The Wellington Senior Living in St. Paul.Bob was born February 3, 1924 in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Roswell and Catherine Myrne (Parks) McCormack. While Bob was an infant, his father died of tuberculosis, so Bob returned to his grandparent’s farm in Cherokee, Iowa, where he grew up and attended school.

MANNING — For a year and a half, the Riesselman family of Manning has been seeking solace for their grief at the loss of their 4-year-old Jed, on the backs of horses.

 SHELBY — The cost of farm upkeep caused a lower account balance for Carstens 1880 Farmstead Inc.    Carstens 1880 Farmstead Inc. held its annual meeting Tuesday at the Shelby Community Building in Shelby.The 2022 Carstens Farm Days show netted $9,700. The gate was off around $2,300 from previous years because of rain on the Saturday show.

Junior Erica Rust scored 18 points for the Cyclones en route to a tight 54-52 road victory over the Glenwood Rams Tuesday night.
“I’m very happy with Erica's performance the other night,” said Cyclones Head Coach Zach Klaassen. “Going up against one of the better athletes in the middle as well that night. She has been very consistent for us this year.”

Glenwood Senior Caden Johnson scored 20 points on the path to victory for the Rams Tuesday night at home over the HCHS Cyclones for its ninth win of the season.
The Rams came out of the gate scoring 16 in the first quarter, taking a 6-point lead into the second. The second quarter was much lower in scoring with neither team scoring in double digits, with a 22-14 Rams lead into the locker room at halftime.

Junior Ella Langer led the way for the Vikings with 13 points Tuesday night at home against the Riverside Bulldogs, helping the Vikings to its fifth win on the season and second consecutive victory.

Senior Cole Scheffler made history for the AHSTW Vikings Tuesday night in their 74-34 victory over the Riverside Bulldogs by becoming the all-time assist leader.

HARLAN — Nurses, EMTs, and paramedics are invited to attend the yearly EMS conference in Harlan Feb. 10-12 at the Therkildsen Center.    Attendees will take classes on trauma, burns, strokes, heart attacks, carbon monoxide emergencies, PTSD, shock and respiratory distress.
