Mary E. Grote, age 69, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 27, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Home.Mary was born May 25, 1953 in Harlan, Iowa to the late Jay D. and Catherine E. (Von Tersch) Miles. She graduated from Harlan Community High School in 1971 and earned her nursing degree from IWCC in 1987. Mary married Michael F. Grote on April 22, 1972 in Portsmouth, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Todd, Adam and Emily.

Mary Louise (Goeser) Keitel, 74

Mary Louise (Goeser) Keitel, 74, of Davenport, IA, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022. Visitation was held 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral Mass was at  10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, at Our Lady of Victory Church. She was laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dan Loyd Funderberg, Jr., 61

Dan Loyd Funderberg Jr., son of Dan Sr. and Patricia (Unland) Funderberg, was born February 28, 1961, in McAllen, Texas. He grew up in McAllen and also lived in Corpus Christi and Houston where he worked as a supervisor at a hardware store.On June 7, 1997, Danny was united in marriage with Karen Nelson in Katy, Texas. In 2009, the couple moved to Elk Horn, Iowa, Karen’s hometown.

 Mary Ann Johnson, age 93, died on November 21, 2022 in Harlan, Iowa. Visitation was held on November 30, 2022 at 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. A Funeral Service was held on December 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Donna Ewert officiating.

David Leslie Outhouse, 87

David Leslie Outhouse was born on the family farm at Soldier, IA on August 6, 1935. He was the fifth child of Leslie and Gladys (Nuzum) Outhouse. His four sisters; Delora, Dorothy, Donna, and Doris warmly welcomed David. As a child he was baptized and a member of the RLDS church in Moorhead, IA. He attended country school through 8th grade. Then graduated from Soldier in 1953.

Gov. Reynolds announces new entry-level CDL training program

STATEWIDE — Governor Kim Reynolds announced on Monday the newly created Iowa Entry-Level Driver Training Program to provide more opportunities for interested truck drivers to obtain their commercial driver’s license (CDL) in Iowa.  “Truck drivers play such a critical role in meeting our supply chain demands-- ‘If you got it, a truck driver brought it’.
