Cyclones finish 8th at Co-Ed Track Event

The HCHS girls track team was originally supposed to be in Lewis Central for a Co-Ed meet, but the event got moved to Glenwood, where the girls managed to take an 8th place finish with 45 points.
“This meet is always quite the show with a 14 team co-ed lineup,” said Cyclones Head Coach Jenny Hamilton. “It’s a tough place to score points, but we are always happy to welcome good competition.”

Cyclones lose to Knights; Bounce back against Rams next day

Monday afternoon at home, the girls varsity tennis team lost 9-0 to the Kuemper Catholic Knights despite some close battles.
“I thought our girls competed really well on Monday,” said Cyclones Head Coach Dillon Stane. “We had 4 matches go into "extra innings", and our 5th match was extremely close as well. They played a very solid team and were close to walking away with some high-quality victories.”

Cyclones beat Knights by eight strokes at home

Monday afternoon at the Harlan Golf & Country Club, the girls varsity golf team earned its first victory of the season, beating the Kuemper Catholic Knights, 209-217.
“We’re steadily improving,” said Cyclones Head Coach Todd Bladt. “It’s hard to get everybody to have their best night on the same night, so if we can get everybody playing well and consistent, get down around the 190s, that’s kind of what we’re striving for.”

Wolves finish 2nd at Ace Nelson Relays; Vikings take 9th

The IKM-Manning Wolves track and field team performed well at the Ace Nelson Relays at Denison-Schleswig Monday afternoon with a second place team finish, along with many students finishing high in multiple events.

Cyclones drop match to Rams by five strokes

Tuesday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team competed on the road against the Glenwood Rams, losing 159-164.
Despite dropping the match, the Bladt name ran strong, including Senior Drew Bladt, who had the best score among the Cyclones with 40 strokes, including being a medalist.

Lady Wolves finish 6th at Ace Nelson Relays

With a limited roster, the IKM-Manning Wolves girls track and field team took what athletes they had to the Ace Nelson Relays at Denison Schleswig High School Monday afternoon and showed well with a 6th place finish and 44.50 points.

Cyclones tie for 7th at Spencer Invitational

Monday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team competed at the Spencer Invitational tying with the Emmetsburg E-Hawks with 339 strokes apiece, just 22 behind the winner, Western Christian.
Multiple Cyclones performed well, including Jonas Reynolds, Alex Bladt, Braydon Ernst, Jace Gubbels and Drew Bladt, who all scored under 90.

Cyclones shut out Panthers on road, 4-0

About ten minutes into Monday’s game, Cyclone Sophomore Kayla Anderson scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Sophomore Aubrey Schwieso, putting the Cyclones up 1-0, en route to a dominating 4-0 win.
The Cyclones secured their fifth win of the season starting their 3-game road trip off on the right foot.

Donation makes new curriculum possible

    HARLAN — The Harlan Education Foundation made a substantial donation to the district for a new English Language Arts curriculum.    “They donated $50,000 towards the cost of the $158,000 program for kindergarten through eighth grade.

Tivoli Fest kickoff to be held April 21

    ELK HORN — Tivoli Fest 2023 committee will hold a Staley’s Chicken Dinner Friday, April 21 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Elk Horn Fire Station. Following the dinner, Princess Laila Niklasen, Kimballton, and Prince Theo King, Elk Horn, will be on hand for the announcement coronation of the king and queen beginning at 7:00 pm.    Tivoli Fest will be held May 26 and 27.
