Cyclones drop close battle on Senior Night

In the top of the 7th inning in a scoreless ballgame, Council Bluffs eighth grader Hanna Ferguson connected for an RBI double off of Cyclone Senior Jenna Gessert, putting her team up 1-0 en route to a 2-0 victory.
“She [Gessert] really hit her spots hard,” said Cyclones Head Coach Brandi Eckles. “She was doing a fantastic job and they just ended up getting some hits in the gaps that we didn’t get.”

Cyclones fall to Titans via the mercy rule

The Lewis Central Titans came to town and shutdown the Cyclones in five innings, winning via mercy rule 11-1 in five innings at H. Jack Field.

Cyclones get first win against Titans since July 2019

In the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs and a runner on second base, Cyclone Sophomore Jozef Reisz stepped to the plate and connected for a base hit scoring Braydon Ernst, winning the game 16-6 in six innings via the mercy rule.

Cyclones win 4th and 5th consecutive games in doubleheader sweep

In game one, Senior Cael Goshorn pitched four innings, struck out three batters and walked two. He only threw 78 pitches on the day due to an offensive outburst by the Cyclones in the bottom of the 1st inning, scoring 14 runs, forcing the Tigers to use three different pitchers in one inning.

Cyclones back in win column with game 2 victory

After dropping their previous 11 games, the Cyclones got themselves back in the win column in game two of their Monday night home doubleheader with a 12-11 victory over the Red Oak Tigers.
“It feels amazing honestly,” said Junior Brianna Muenchrath. “It’s an incredible feeling.”

Fireworks may be purchased, but use is prohibited in Harlan until July 4

  HARLAN — Iowa law allows the sale of fireworks in temporary structures from June 13 to July 8, and merchants’ stands in Harlan will soon be open for business. However, Harlan City Ordinance states the use and discharge of fireworks is prohibited with the exception of noon until 11:30 p.m. on July 4 and from noon until 12:30 a.m.

Cyclones win close battle with Knights

In the bottom of the 6th inning with a runner on base, Cyclone Junior Cade Sears launched a home run over the right field fence putting his team up 7-0, which at the time seemed like icing on the cake of an easy victory, but after a furious rally by the Kuemper Catholic Knights in the top of the 7th, the Cyclones hung on for a 7-6 win.
For the Cyclones, this was their second win in a row and third in their previous four games.

Voters will decide fate of county wide EMS
