Cyclones defeat Tigers on Senior Night

In the bottom of the 1st inning at Jim Goeser Field, Sophomore Cyclone Hayden Soma connected at the plate for a 2-run double off Tigers starter Linkin Weitl, followed by an RBI single by Junior Cyclone Matthew Sorfonden and a sacrifice fly by Weston Reisz that put them up 4-0, and set the tone for the night en route to a 10-2 victory.

Cyclones red hot with 8th and 9th consecutive wins

The Cyclones continue to stay hot winning both games of a doubleheader Monday night on the road, outscoring the Shenandoah Mustangs 20-0.
In game one, Franz Reisz got the ball for the Cyclones pitching five innings, striking out seven batters and allowing just four hits on 76 pitches.

Brummer brings home coaching award

HCHS Head Track and Field Coach Sam Brummer has won the 3A At Large Coach of the Year award.
“It’s a super good accomplishment,” Brummer said. “It’s a total team award is how I view it, but it’s just as much an attribute to coach [James] Cairney and coach [Steve] Wilwerding and the rest of the team on our success with how the season went. I’m just super honored and humbled to have received the award.”

Vikings earn road victory over Wolves

In the top of the 5th inning, Junior Viking Graycen Partlow managed to reach 3rd base on a fielding error by the IKM-Manning Wolves, allowing Partlow to score on the next play, making it 4-1 Vikings en route to an eventual 5-3 victory.
For the Vikings, it was their second victory in their previous nine games.

Cyclones win 7th straight in extra innings

After the Atlantic Trojans offense scored four runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the ballgame, the Cyclones came right back and scored three runs in the top of the 8th, en route to a 15-12 victory and their seventh consecutive victory.

Harlan Community Library will limit digital lending

Spartans beat Wildcats on Senior Night

Eighth grader Riley Miller pitched three innings, striking out five batters in Wednesday’s victory over the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats helping lead the Spartans to a 13-1 mercy rule victory.
“She did good,” said Spartans Head Coach Andrea Schwery. “We wanted to challenge their hitters tonight. We saw they had pretty good averages, but she did a good job keeping them off the basepaths.”
