Cyclones win close battle against Trojans at home

Despite windy conditions, the HCHS Cyclones girls tennis team was able to battle through against the Atlantic Trojans coming away with a 5-4 victory.
“I was really proud of how the girls battled in the wind,” said Cyclone Head Coach Michael Rueschenberg. “It was really tough conditions and they fought through it. We had a couple matches that we found ourselves down in and fought back to earn the win.”

Cyclones edged out by four strokes in triangular

The HCHS Cyclones girls golf team competed in a triangular Monday at the Harlan Golf & Country Club, finishing with 206 strokes, four behind Red Oak, who won the event with 202, and 10 ahead of Shenandoah who came in third place with 216.
“At home, the goal is to win,” said Cyclone Head Coach Todd Bladt. “But we’re always look for improvements, and we definitely saw that in a couple of different places.”

Schwieso gets hat trick on Senior Night against Denison

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half of Monday’s game and the Cyclones leading 1-0, Junior Aubrey Schwieso scored three goals all within a seven minute stretch putting her team up 4-0, en route to a 5-1 win.

SHELBY COUNTY — The generosity of a Shelby County farmer and the fund raising skills of a community made Myrtue Memorial Hospital a reality. In 1880, Andrew Myrtue, his wife and 10 children came to America from Denmark. Chris, the Myrtue’s third son, was 10 years old.In his early teens, Chris and his four brothers helped their father establish the Myrtue homestead in Lincoln Township in Shelby County.He left home at 16, renting a nearby farm.

Cyclones battle St. Albert in Co-Ed Tennis Match

Friday at home, the HCHS Cyclones boys and girls tennis team played a co-ed match with St. Albert, with the boys losing 9-0 and the girls losing 7-2.
