Parking changes possible with fire ordinance amendment

MMC Board approves replacing CT equipment

    HARLAN -- Following a presentation by Keri Sonderman, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Myrtue Medical Center, the MMC Board of Trustees approved the replacement of the current CT (computed tomography) equipment with the Toshiba Aquilion Prime 80 Choice.

Tiger rally knocks Cyclones from playoff race

HCHS places third at Newton Volleyball Tourney

Vikings make it to 6-0 with 11-point win over Wolves

 MANNING -- AHSTW kept its unbeaten season alive and IKM-Manning’s frustrations continued Friday night as the Vikings scored 27 unanswered points in a 27-16 road win over the Wolves. IKM-M led 8-0 after one quarter and 8-7 at halftime but didn’t score again until it trailed by three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Exira-EHK tops CAM in four

 ELK HORN -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton volleyball team improved to 4-1 in Rolling Valley Conference play here Thursday night, outlasting CAM in four sets, 25-22, 25-17, 17-25, 25-22. The Spartans are now 8-10 overall. CAM dropped to 8-12 overall and 3-4 in the RVC. The Spartans were led at the net by Sophia Peppers’ nine kills and Maggie Rasmussen’s eight kills with a solid .368 efficiency.

Spartans blast Woodbine 68-0

WOODBINE -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton extended its winning streak to four games on Friday night, pounding Woodbine 68-0 in 8-Player football action. Since starting the season 0-2, the Spartans have outscored their first four district opponents by a combined 250 to 30. 

Spangenberg joins KMA Sports Hall of Fame

 HARLAN -- It was only fitting that Harlan Community head volleyball coach Angie Spangenberg received her latest honor on the same night that HCHS hosted Red Oak. Prior to the Cyclones vs. Tigers match on September 27, Coach Spangenberg was officially inducted into the KMA Sports Hall of Fame, becoming the third member to join the Shenandoah radio station’s newly-formed club.

 HARLAN -- It’s only Week 6 and it’s also Homecoming, but Friday night’s clash with Carroll is basically a playoff game for the Harlan Community football team. A victory over the sixth-ranked Tigers (5-0 overall, 3-0 in Class 3-A, District 7) wouldn’t guarantee the Cyclones much of anything in terms of their postseason prospects, but it would at least keep them in the hunt as the calander turns to October.
