Wolves advance to WIC semifinals, fall to T-C

 MANNING (October 10) -- The IKM-Manning volleyball team won a hard-fought five-set match with Logan-Magnolia in the quarterfinal round of the Western Iowa Conference Tournament Monday night before falling to top-seeded Tri-Center in a three-set semifinal match here Tuesday. The fourth-seeded Wolves (22-11 overall) faced third-seeded Missouri Valley in Thursday’s consolation final (at Manning) and will close out the regular season at the Lewis

WIC Volleyball: Lady Vikes fall to Mo. Valley

 MISSOURI VALLEY (October 9) -- AHSTW struggled at the net in Monday’s Western Iowa Conference Volleyball Tournament quarterfinal game at Missouri Valley, compiling a negative kill efficiency (-.069) in a 14-25, 16-25, 14-25 loss to the Lady Reds. AHSTW, seeded sixth in the tourney, finished the match with 13 kills against 18 attack errors and dropped to 12-12 overall.

Marcene Twark, 82

    STATE COLLEGE, PA -- Word has been received of the death of Marcene Twark, Danville, PA, who died Monday, Oct. 2 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.    Services are Friday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama.    Twark is survived by her husband, Richard; children David Twark of State College, Jennifer (Joseph) Gersch, Jr.

Mildred Glenn, 90

    ELK HORN -- Mildred Glenn, 90, Elk Horn, died October 14 at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn.    Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 11:15 a.m. at the Layton Township Cemetery at Walnut.  Family will greet friends Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 5-7 p.m.

Janice Waltz, 78

    PORTSMOUTH -- Janice Waltz, 78, Portsmouth, died October 13 at her home.    Services were held Monday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St.

Clifford Behrendt, 81

    HARLAN -- Clifford Behrendt, 81, Harlan, died October 12 at Elm Crest Assisted Living.    Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation is Tuesday from 9-11 a.m.

Harlan FFA Soils Judging Team Qualifies for National Competition

HARLAN -- Four students from the Harlan FFA Chapter competed in the Iowa State FFA Soil Judging Competition on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Ames. The team, consisting of Miguel Mena, Andrew Schechinger, McKenna Boardman and Allyssa Obrecht, earned a gold rating for its fourth place finish out of 30 teams at the state competition.
