HCHS bowlers sweep Clarinda with season-best totals

 HARLAN (Jan. 28) -- The Harlan Community boys and girls bowling teams each rolled their top grand totals of the season last Thursday to sweep a Senior Night dual vs. Clarinda at Cyclone Lanes. The HCHS boys surpassed their previous season-best score by 164 pins, improving to 4-7 overall with a 2,530-2,371 victory. All six Cyclone bowlers rolled a two-game series of 300 or better, led by senior Brennon Munch’s 379 (200-179).

Bottle of Whiskey Presented to Last WWII Veteran from Portsmouth Legion

AHSTW squads win big in sweep of Missouri Valley

 AVOCA (Jan. 29) -- The AHSTW basketball teams won by lopsided scores in Friday night’s girl-boy doubleheader vs. Missouri Valley. The girls prevailed 54-9 in the first game of the night before the boys won 75-43. The Lady Vikes (12-5) were led by Kailey Jones’ 14 points and 14 rebounds while Claire Denning had 13 points and seven steals.
