    SCHLESWIG -- Deb Ann Nelson, 56, Schleswig, died March 8 at her home.    Services will be held Friday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Denison with interment in the Dow City Cemetery.  Visitation was Thursday, March 11 from 5-7 p.m.

Mobile Food Pantry critical for residents

    HARLAN -- The Harlan Lions Club donated enough food for 200 families during its latest mobile food drive, a key to the continued efforts to tackle food insecurities in Shelby County, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.    Lion’s Club Representative Sharon Hoffnagle said it was another successful event on February 22.  A mobile food pantry is a traveling event that delivers food directly to families in need for a one-day distribution.

Quinn Grubbs named to All-Tournament Team

 DES MOINES (March 6) -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton sophomore Quinn Grubbs was one of six players named to the Class 1A All-Tournament Team following the championship game of the 2021 Girls State Basketball Tournament Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. In two state tourney games last week, Grubbs totaled 33 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals.
