    HARLAN -- Marcia Elaine Harper, 87, Harlan, died April 7 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Saturday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Harlan with burial in the Ames Cemetery in Ames.  Visitation is Saturday from 10-11 a.m.

Dolores Stessman, 90

    PANAMA --  Dolores Stessman, 90, Panama, died June 1 at her home.    Services will be held Monday, June 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Panama with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Panama.  A rosary will be held Sunday, June 6 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Center.  Visitation is Sunday from 5-8 p.m.

Titan girls hand Cyclones lopsided defeat

 HARLAN (May 17) -- The second-ranked (2A) Lewis Central girls soccer team continued its dominance over Harlan Community Monday night, scoring seven goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half to finish off HCHS by the mercy rule, 10-0, at Merrill Field. The match ended with 20:48 left in the second half when Natalie Smith became the seventh Titan goal scorer of the night.

Cyclone soccer boys blank Carroll 3-0

Wolves’ Powers advances to regional golf final

 FORT DODGE (May 17) -- Kylie Powers is moving on to the next round of the Class 1A girls regional golf series. Powers, an IKM-Manning sophomore, shot a second-place score of 85 at Monday’s Region 1C first round tournament held at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course near Fort Dodge. She will now compete on Monday, May 24, in the Region 1 Final at the Holstein Country Club. Spartans' Petersen shoots 84 at 1A Sectional, advances to districts

 DUNLAP -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton sophomore Trey Petersen advanced to district competition on Friday, May 14, after shooting a round of 84 in the Class 1A Boys Sectional Tournament at the Dunlap Golf Course. Petersen was the fourth-place medalist on the day, carding nine-hole scores of 43 and 41 in rainy conditions.

Wolves place fourth at Panorama golf sectional

AHSTW boys end golf season at sectional tournament

 SHENANDOAH (May 14) -- Nate Jorgensen paced a trio of AHSTW golfers that ended their season in last Friday’s Class 2A Boys Sectional Tournament at Shenandoah. Jorgensen finished with an 18-hole round of 92 at the American Legion Country Club, shooting 48 on the front nine and 44 on the back.

    KIMBALLTON -- Penny Jean Jacobsen, 60, Kimballton, died May 28 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Wednesday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Kimballton.    Visitation is Tuesday, June 1 from 5-8 p.m.
