NEW YORK, NY -- Anthony Lee Haney, 37, died at his home in New York City, on February 4.      He is survived by his mother, Sandra Haney of Harlan, father, Stewart (Tony) Haney of Irwin, sister, Amanda Haney of Louisville, KY, grandmother Lois Haney of Apache Junction, AZ, uncle Steven Haney of Apache Junction, cousins Carol Oltman, Anna Wohnoutka, and Mary Doten of Minneapolis, MN, and his faithful companion cat, Twenty-one.

    WESTPHALIA -- Jane Clara Goetzinger, 73, Westphalia, died February 7 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services were held Monday, Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia with burial in the St.

    HARLAN -- Merlene “Bill” Brue, 89, Harlan, died February 5 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Irwin with burial at a later date.  Visitation is Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

    ELK HORN -- James George O’Keefe, 69, Elk Horn, died February 5 at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn.    Services will be held at a later date.    O’Keefe is survived by his mother, Pauline O’Keefe, of Huntley, WY; wife Phyllis O’Keefe of Elk Horn; son James J.

    FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ -- Norma Jean Pycha, 72, Fountain Hills, AZ, formerly of Defiance, Omaha, and Blair, NE, died February 4.    Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m .at Messinger Funeral Home in Fountain Hills with interment at the Bohemian Cemetery of Omaha at a date to be announced.    Pycha is survived by three stepsons and their families, three grandchildren, nine siblings, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    DEFIANCE -- Penny Baker Hulsebus, 52, Defiance, died Thursday, Jan. 31.    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Salem United Methodist Church in Defiance at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at the Union Township Cemetery in Defiance.  Visitation is Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 4-8 p.m.

    EARLING -- Rosemary Hahn, 88, Earling, died February 1 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling with burial in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Earling.  A Catholic Daughter’s Rosary will be held Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Visitation is Friday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan and from 3-8 p.m.

    WINCHESTER, KY -- LeRoy Meyer Petersen, 92, Winchester, KY, died January 28 at Richmond Place in Lexington, KY.    Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at the Harlan Cemetery.    Petersen is survived by son Paul (Kelly) Petersen of Winchester, KY; daughter Pamela (Ronald) Hicks of Kileen, TX; and four grandchildren.    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of arrangements. 

    PANAMA -- Maxine Mary Schwery, 85, Panama, died January 30 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services are pending at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.    Schwery is survived by her husband, George Schwery, of Panama; sons Nick Schwery of Panama, Phil (Marilyn) Schwery of Panama and Dennis (Susie) Schwery of Panama; daughters Paula Wallace of Omaha, NE, Ann (Dave) Hodapp of Council Bluffs, Carol Schwery of Harlan, Janet (Tom) Lefebe

    OMAHA -- Marcella “Marcie” Ann Wetzel, 88, Omaha, died January 24.    A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m.

    DENISON -- Garrett Thomas Carroll, 24, Denison, died January 22 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital.    A celebration of life will be held Friday, Jan. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca.  A prayer service will be held Friday at 6 p.m.

    GLENWOOD -- Nicholas Joseph Gross, 54, Glenwood, died January 23 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital.    Services  will be held at a later date with burial at a later date in the St.

    HARLAN -- Glenna M. Bone, 88, Harlan, died January 20 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 24 at 11 a.m.

    ANKENY -- Richard Morris Norgaard, 89, Ankeny, died January 16 in Des Moines.    Services will be held Saturday, Jan.

    DES MOINES -- Charles Leo Koch died Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Veterans Hospice Center in Des Moines.    Koch is formerly of Panama.  He is survived by his wife, Gerry; one son, six daughters, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.    Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines with a prayer service starting at 3:30 p.m.  Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m.
