HARLAN -- Arlin and Nancy Sorensen of Harlan marked their 40th wedding anniversary on July 16. Their family includes son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Megan, Harlan; daughter, Laurie, Omaha; and four grandchildren.

HARLAN -- The 12U Little Cyclones baseball team from Harlan finished 19-10 this season, capped by a 6-0 state championship performance at the 12U Division II State Tournament the weekend of June 30-July 2.
PORTSMOUTH -- The family of Robert Grote of Portsmouth is requesting a card shower in honor of his 95th birthday on July 31. Cards will reach him if sent to Box 56, Portsmouth, IA 51565. Robert is a retired Portsmouth postmaster.
