James, Charlotte most popular baby names

    REGIONAL -- Everybody loves a classic.    Or, at least, that seems to be the case with current baby name trends. According to Myrtue Medical Center, the most popular name for a little boy is James, while girls’ trends sway toward Charlotte.

Soft rollout for voter ID law

    REGIONAL -- The next time you go to vote, you’ll be asked for an ID.    Iowa’s Election Integrity Law is taking to polling places with a soft rollout. The law requires voters to present a driver’s license, a non-driver’s ID, military ID, veteran’s ID or Voter ID Card.    The new voter ID law will not be fully implemented until Jan. 1, 2019.

Minors in bars ordinance

Shelby native Dohrmann honored

    REGIONAL -- After being shot in enemy fire three times, the first thing Glenn Dohrmann remembered was waiting in a 50-foot-long line to be taken into the Norwegian Mass Unit for operation.    Dohrmann, a Shelby native, had been hit by three bullets from a machine gun being operated by a Chinese soldier.

Defiance open house will honor Dick Ahrenholtz

Open house will honor Ruth (Eckermann) Barker

    MISSOURI VALLEY -- Ruth Marie (Eckermann) Barker of Missouri Valley will celebrate her 90th birthday on Saturday, August 5 at an open house from 2-4 p.m. at 806 Grove in Missouri Valley. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.    The celebration will be hosted by her children and grandchildren.

Stevenson-Fahn will marry in September
