 ELK HORN (June 21) -- Following an 0-4 week from June 14-18, the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton baseball team opened the current week in strong fashion Monday night, scoring eight fourth-inning runs and defeating Glidden-Ralston 15-1 in five to sweep the season series. Junior Tyler Kingery pitched an abbreviated two-hitter for the Spartans, using primarily a high-velocity fastball to strike out 12 Wildcats.

 KIMBALLTON (June 21) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton softball team made quick work of Glidden-Ralston on Monday, scoring 11 runs in the first inning and batting just twice in a 12-0, three-inning victory. The 11th-ranked (Class 1A) Spartans also topped Ar-We-Va 7-3 on Wednesday, improving to 19-4 overall. Incredibly, 11 Exira-EHK batters came to the plate in Monday’s first inning before a ball was put in play.
