Cyclones take care of Fillies at home

In the fourth quarter with the Cyclones leading by more than 20 points, Senior Ava Monson assisted on a lay up by Junior Aubrey Schwieso en route to a dominant 59-34 victory over the Shenandoah Fillies for their third consecutive win to open their season.

Countywide EMS system now in operation

 SHELBY COUNTY -  It was originally expected to be in operation July 2025, but with what county officials said was “ a lot of hard work from a lot of people, the Shelby County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system is now up and running. “I am proud of the way everyone has done their part,” Shelby County Board of Supervisors Chairman Steve Kenkel said at a special Board of Supervisors meeting held Tuesday, November 28.

New members sworn in to school board

HARLAN — Monday, November 20 was eventful with not just one, but two Harlan Community School Board meetings. Three board members- Monte Schechinger, Joe Herzberg, and Joni Larsen ended their terms at adjournment of the first meeting, and upon the second,  newly elected members Jennifer Anderson, Jen Arkfeld, and Roger Kenkel were sworn in.

Cyclones win close battle with Saintes at home

With less than five seconds remaining in regulation, Junior Cyclone Aubrey Schwieso was fouled, sending her to the free throw line where she made one of two shots, giving the Cyclones their second win of the season, 48-44.

Spartans dominate Tigers to open season

Senior Spartan Cash Emgarten led the way scoring 23 points for his team, en route to a dominant 76-60 road victory over the Woodbine Tigers, earning their first win of the season.

Spartans drop season opener to Tigers on road

Woodbine’s Charlie Pryor, Nicole Hoefer, and Katy Pryor were the stars of the game as the Exira-EHK Spartans fell 58-50 to open their season against them. The girls scored 17, 13, & 11 respectfully.
“I was proud of the girls effort throughout the game,” said Spartan Head Coach Tom Petersen. “I think it is a great opener for us because it really shows areas that need to be improved.”

Community putting Clear Touch Interactive Boards in every classroom

HARLAN — Along with the new building underway at the Harlan Community schools, new resources are also arriving to help educators continue to update and improve every day within the walls. Made possible by the generous donations of the community, the Harlan Education Foundation has raised $65,000 to purchase 25 out of the 50 Clear Touch interactive boards.

Christensen named iJAG State Career Association President Elect

Countywide Emergency Medical Service system will be expedited

 SHELBY COUNTY -  After receiving notification from Medivac November 13 asking for an increase in funding, stakeholders for the countywide Emergency Medical Services have decided to expedite the plan, and are now tasked with making the transition by December 1. “We didn’t expect this,” said Shelby County Board of Supervisors Chairman Steve Kenkel.

Wolves look to build on last year’s 14-10 record in new season

The IKM-Manning boys basketball team wrapped up their 2022 campaign with a 14-10 record making an appearance in the 1A-7 Second Round Game losing to the ACGC Chargers 78-64, but despite losing five seniors, head coach Keith Wagner is optimistic at the start of practice.
