IRWIN – Irwin’s Bret Richards has announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives District #4 position currently held by Rep.

Williams, 93, was a former Harlan high school government teacher and coach in the 1960s-70s. Williams was also instrumental in the growth the Harlan Little League and Legion baseball programs. His late wife, Donna, who was the Shelby County Recorder from 1971 - 1986, was believed to be one of the first female county recorders in Iowa and her husband, Ted, was very involved in helping her campaign.

1)  Why did you get involved with your agriculturally-based career?    “I married a farmer.  And when our sons were born it made more sense for me to stay at home with them than to work and pay for day care.  I volunteered in their classes at Tri-Center and was amazed.
