Congratulations to the Harlan Community Cyclones on earning the program's 13th state football championship Friday with a hard-fought 42-28 win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.

 CEDAR FALLS (Nov. 19) -- There’s an interesting progression to the all-time series between the Harlan Community and Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley football teams. The Cyclones and Nighthawks have met four previous times - all in the playoffs - since the turn of the century.

 HARLAN -- It’s championship week in the Iowa high school football playoffs, which always stirs up memories of past state titles won by Harlan Community. Very few of the Cyclones’ 12 state championships were as memorable as the 1984 final against Waterloo Columbus. HCHS trailed 13-7 with time winding down and Columbus had the ball deep in Cyclone territory.

 CEDAR FALLS (Nov. 13) -- In the end, Harlan Community’s big-game, big-play ability compensated for a shaky night of self-inflicted errors. For the second straight year and the 22nd time in school history, the top-ranked (3A) Cyclones will be playing for a state football championship. HCHS trailed 6-0 just two plays into Saturday’s Class 3A semifinal vs.

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Nine Harlan FFA members traveled to the National FFA Convention and Expo on October 26-29 in Indianapolis, IN.
