ELK HORN -- Bernice Wilhemine Mordhorst, 103, Elk Horn, died November 13 at the Salem Lutheran Home.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Portsmouth.  A wake service will be held Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Visitation is Friday from 5-8 p.m.

    GREENFIELD -- Gary Ross Brewer, 80, Greenfield, died November 1 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Port St. Lucie, FL.    Services will be held Friday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Shelby United Lutheran Church in Shelby with burial in the Shelby Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Edna Poepsel, 85, Harlan, died Monday, Nov. 6 in Omaha, NE.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  A rosary will be held Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Friends may call Friday from 3-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.

    WEBSTER CITY -- Donna Lauritsen, 79, Webster City, died Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Van Diest Medical Center.    Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m.

LINCOLN, NE - Funeral services are Sat., Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at the First Plymouth Church, Lincoln, NE for three-time HCHS Supt. Bob Broomfield who died on Thursday, Nov. 9 in his sleep at their home. Broomfield and his wife, MJ, were also the co-directors of  Shelby County's economic development arm, called Developsource from 2010-2013.

    WESTPHALIA -- Martin “Mert” Anthony Schwarte, 89, Westphalia, died October 25 at Rose Vista Home, Inc.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the St. Boniface Cemetery at Westphalia.  Family will greet friends Saturday from noon-1 p.m.

    AVOCA -- Richard C. “Ric” Schneider, 66, rural Avoca, died Wednesday, Nov. 1 in Elk Horn.    Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia with burial in the Cuppy’s Grove Cemetery in rural Shelby County.  Friends may call Friday, Nov. 3 from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m.

    ELK HORN -- Russell H. Lange, 85, Elk Horn, died October 30 at Southfield Wellness Community.    Services will be held Friday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn with burial in the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 2 from 5-7 p.m.

    MIDDLETON, WI -- William Louis Rasmussen, 82, Middleton, WI, died October 24 at the Attic Angel Place Health Center.    Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. at Layton Township Cemetery at Walnut.    Rasmussen is survived by brothers Dennis (Sherry) Rasmussen of Madison, WI and Gary (Sue) Rasmussen of Safford, AZ.    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of arrangements.

    HARLAN -- Dixie I. Andersen, 83, Harlan, died October 19 at Elm Crest Assisted Living.    Services were held Monday, Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St.

    EARLING -- Marcella Marie Smith, 99, Earling, died October 18 at the Little Flower Haven Nursing Home.    Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling with burial in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Earling.  A Catholic Daughters Rosary will be held Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Visitation is Friday from 4-8 p.m.

    AVOCA -- Diana Kay Dewaele, 66, Avoca, died October 18 at Avoca Specialty Care.    Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with burial in the Grange Cemetery at Honey Creek.  Visitation is Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.    Dewaele is survived by her husband, Robert Dewaele, of Avoca. 

    AVOCA -- Dorothy M. Mosher, 93, Avoca, died October 16 at Avoca Specialty Care.    Services were held Thursday, Oct. 19 at 11:30 a.m.

    STATE COLLEGE, PA -- Word has been received of the death of Marcene Twark, Danville, PA, who died Monday, Oct. 2 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.    Services are Friday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Panama.    Twark is survived by her husband, Richard; children David Twark of State College, Jennifer (Joseph) Gersch, Jr.
