CARBONDALE, CA -- Richard C. Nelson, 84 passed away at his home in Carbondale, CO on Thursday, February 18, 2021.      Richard was born in Harlan, IA of parents Mabel and Moody Nelson. He is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Lucas Nelson, who he met at Harlan High School; children Lauri G. Nelson of San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Melisa B. (Ed) Gaudreau of Sacramento, CA; R.

    HARLAN -- La Jean Steinhoff of Harlan, passed away on February 26, 2021.  A private graveside burial will be held at a later date.    She is survived by a daughter Connie (Darwin) Campbell of Harlan;  a son Ricky Casper Steinhoff of Manilla; 2 Grandchildren, Travis and Angela; 5 Great-Grandchilren, Anna, Jasmine, Charlie, Elizabeth, and Devon.
 

    PANAMA -- Barbara Schleimer, 81, Panama, died February 27 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Monday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Panama with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Panama.    A rosary will be held Sunday, March 7 at 6 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Center in Panama.  Visitation is Sunday from 3-8 p.m.

    ATLANTIC -- Helen Ruth Blum, 99, Atlantic, died February 22 at the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center.    A private family interment with memorial Mass will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earling.    Blum is survived by daughters Marilyn Munchrath of Omaha, NE, Linda (William) Ebbinga of Griswold, and Dr.

    HARLAN -- Marian “Bonnie” Peterson, 98, Harlan, died February 19 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center.    Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  A wake service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Visitation is Tuesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

    COUNCIL BLUFFS  -- The Rev. James F. Kleffman, 86, Council Bluffs, died February 16 at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan.    A private funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Feb. 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth with burial following in St.

    ATLANTIC -- Lois Ann Delph, 84, Atlantic, died February 13 at Atlantic Specialty Care.    Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with burial in the Shelby Cemetery at Shelby.    Delph is survived by sister Alice Shriver of Atlantic.

    GREENWOOD, SC -- George H. Gingrich, 56, Greenwood, SC, died unexpectedly in Broadway, VA on Thursday, Feb.

    MANNING -- Word has been received of the death of Dewayne Buhr, 79, Manning.    Services are pending at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

    MANNING -- Phyllis Wiese, 73, Manning, died Thursday, Feb. 11 at Accura Healthcare of Manning.    Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Manning with burial in the Manning Cemetery.    Friends were asked to call from 5-7 p.m.

    GILLETTE, WY—Donald Schmidt, 75, died Feb. 5 in Gillette, WY.    Private family services were held Feb.

    EARLING -- Douglas Herman, 61, Earling, died February 5 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Visitation is Friday, Feb. 12 from 3-6 p.m.

    PHOENIX, AZ -- John Forrest Brouhard, 78, Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Harlan, died January 9 at Banner Medical Center in Phoenix.    Brouhard will be interred at the Brouhard family plot at the Vail, IA Cemetery at a future date.    Brouhard is survived by his son Benjamin Forrest (Catherine) of Fechy, Switzerland; his grandsons Lucas and Elijah; his daughter, Rebecca Julia Brouhard of Gilbert, AZ; his sister Celinda Pearson of Altadena, CA;

    HARLAN -- Mickalia “Mickey” Ann Williams, 82, Harlan, died January 16 at Methodist Hospital.    Celebration of life will be held Friday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Helen Magdeline Bruck, 97, Harlan, died January 10 at University of Nebraska Medical Center.    A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St.
