 ELK HORN -- The CAM boys basketball team built a 17-9 lead after one quarter and outlasted Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton 57-53 in Rolling Valley Conference action Friday night. Thomas  and Nate Hensley led the Cougars with 18 and 11 points, respectively, while Nick Holste added nine points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, four assists and three steals.

Cardinal girls showcase ‘A’ game in win at IKM-Manning

Wagemans celebrate 50 years of marriage

HARLAN -- Joseph and Elizabeth Wageman of Harlan will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on January 6. They reside at 811 Victoria Street, Harlan, IA 51537.    Their family includes Tony and Jeri Wageman, Lees Summit, MO; Dawn and Greg Cairney, Pella; Phil and Teresa Wageman, Waukee; and Bill and Brandi Wageman, Bennington, NE. The Wagemans have 12 grandchildren.  

Open house will honor Shelby couple

SHELBY -- Robert and Catherine Thoms of Shelby will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house on Saturday, January 13 from 2-4 at the Shelby Community Building.    Their family includes Dana and Shirley Messerschmidt, Blair, NE; Tracy and Jeff Shreeves, Underwood; Chris and Dee Thoms, Woodbine; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

    IRWIN - Vernon D. Campbell, 80, died Wed., Dec. 27 at Myrtue Medical Center, Harlan.    A visitations will be held on Friday, Dec. 29 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home, Harlan, form 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and at the United Methodist Church, Irwin, on Sat., Dec. 30 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m.

    EARLING - Mildred Ann Finken, 87, died Tues., Dec. 26 at Myrtue Medical Center, Harlan.    A visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 29  from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral services are Sat., Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic, with burial in the St.
