 SHELBY COUNTY — Shelby County voters will head to the polls Tuesday, November 5 to cast their ballots in the 2024 general election. In addition to choosing the next President and Vice President, voters will be asked to decide on State and U.S.

Cyclones take first round exit against Bulldogs

The HCHS Cyclones football team knew coming in to their first playoff game on the road, they would face a big test with the 8-1 Algona Bulldogs, and they struggled right away with the Bulldog offense scoring 28 on them in the first quarter, en route to a 49-6 victory ending the Cyclones season.

Cyclones finish sixth at state meet

Cyclone Senior Lindsey Sonderman capped off her high school cross country career Saturday at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge at the state meet with a fourth place finish with a time of 18:29.3, finishing just under two minutes behind the overall winner, Junior Marissa Ferebee of Pella.

Rasmussen gets first taste of state meet

After missing out on the state meet his sophomore season, Exira-EHK Junior Austin Rasmussen competed at Fort Dodge Saturday at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course finishing 102nd overall with a time of 18:13.8.

Seven Cyclones to represent at Fort Dodge

HCHS Cyclone cross country runners Brylee Schechinger, Allie Anderson, Ava Freund, Sadie Alberti, Ashlyn Rau, Aspen Bieker, and Lindsey Sonderman will represent Harlan in the state meet at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
“I’m really excited,” Alberti said. “Last year, I got to go along as an alternate, and it was really fun to cheer on all the girls, so I’m excited to get to run with them this year.”

With the regular season behind them, the #16 ranked HCHS Cyclones football team turns their attention to postseason football, starting with the 8-1 #4 ranked Algona Bulldogs Friday night on the road.

Vikings have final meet of season

The AHSTW Vikings had five runners performing at the cross country state qualifying meet Thursday, but unfortunately nobody qualified as a team or as an individual. The team finished fourth overall with 105 points, finishing 69 points behind the winner, Treynor with 36 points.
