    COUNTY -- Your best defense against influenza (flu) is to get vaccinated. Across the country, hundreds of millions of people have gotten the flu vaccine safely for decades. It is a reliable way to keep you and your family from becoming ill from influenza viruses.    This year, it is especially important to get your flu vaccination with two circulating viruses this fall: Influenza and the SARS2 coronavirus (COVID-19).

    HARLAN -- Jeffrey McEvoy, 58, Harlan, died September 6.    Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan with burial in the Bethany Cemetery in Kimballton.  Visitation is Saturday from 9-11 a.m.

    DEFIANCE -- Richard Mulligan, 74, Defiance, died September 18 at his home.    Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance with burial in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Defiance.  A rosary was held Monday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Visitation was Monday from 5-8 p.m.

    EXIRA -- Agnes I. Goodner, 94, Exira, died September 19 at the Exira Care Center.    A private family funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Public visitation will be held Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
