HARLAN — Nori Griffith has joined the Harlan Newspaper staff as a graphic designer. Griffith received a Bachelor of Science in Media Communications with an emphasis in animation from John Paul the Great Catholic University north of San Diego, CA in Escondido in August 2023. Prior to attending college, she lived in Idaho and Nebraska, and was born in North Carolina. Her parents are both from Iowa and met attending Iowa State University.

In the fourth quarter with the Chargers leading 63-62 over the Exira-EHK Spartans, Senior Charger Anthony Solorzano was fouled, making two free throws, securing a close 65-62 victory.

In the third quarter of Saturday's home match, the ACGC Chargers went on a 9-0 run that was key to a 53-40 victory over the Exira-EHK Spartans handing them their second consecutive loss and third of the season.

In a second overtime period in Friday's game, the Tri-Center Trojans offense went on a 6-0 run to close out the game handing the Vikings their 7th loss of the season and 4th consecutive.

In the third quarter of Friday's game with the Vikings leading 21-17, the Tri-Center Trojan offense got hot with buckets from Junior Isah VanArsdol and Senior Alexis Flaharty turning the tables on the Vikings outscoring them 30-6 en route to a 47-27 victory.

With less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation and the Wolves trailing by one, Wolves Senior Ross Kusel received a rocket pass from teammate Lane Sams, who made a shot from 3-point range, putting his team up 61-59 and securing the victory.

It didn’t take long for Thursday’s home match against the Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders to slip away from the IKM-Manning Wolves as the Crusaders opened the game with a 9-0 run in the first quarter.
Before the game, the Wolves 2008-09 team was in town getting honored for their state championship run.

With 0.9 seconds remaining in the game and the Cyclones leading 40-37, Senior Cyclone Quinn Koesters was fouled, sending him to the free throw line, where he made both shots, securing a 42-37 victory, giving the Cyclones their third consecutive win.
“There was a lot of grit,” Koesters said. “The team just had to come together. It was a hard-nosed battle, and we just had to be strong.”

With the Cyclones in an uphill battle trailing by four points to open the third quarter, it didn’t get any easier with the Lewis Central Titans going on a 12-2 run to open the second half, effectively winning the game 45-30, and handing the Cyclones their first loss of the season.
