Wolves run well at WIC Track and Field Championships
MISSOURI VALLEY — The IKM-Manning boys and girls track and field teams competed at the Western Iowa Conference Championships Tuesday night in Missouri Valley, with the girls team finishing third overall while the boys placed fifth.

The IKM-Manning girls turned in a strong all-around performance, finishing third in the final team standings with 88 points.
Annabelle Blum led the way for the Wolves by capturing a conference championship in the long jump while also breaking the school record.
Blum won the event with a leap of 16 feet, 6 inches, surpassing the previous school record mark of 15-9. Teammate Anna Stangl also added a seventh-place fin-ish at 14-1.
IKM-Manning also had a strong showing in the sprint events. Caylie Rasmussen placed third in the 100-meter dash in 13.05 seconds, while Olivia Linde finished fourth in 13.25.
Oriah Meiners added an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.66.
In the middle-distance races, Addisyn Bandow earned a third-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:32.27, and Katelyn Bandow placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:08.56.
The Wolves excelled in the relays, highlighted by runner-up finishes in both the 800 sprint medley relay and shuttle hurdle relay.
The sprint medley team of Macy Rasmussen, Olivia Linde, Caylie Rasmussen and Addisyn Bandow crossed the line in 1:55.33, narrowly behind Riverside. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Linde, Meiners, Blum and Stangl finished second in 1:10.96, a mark that ranks fifth all-time in school history.
IKM-Manning also placed fourth in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays while taking fifth in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
Additional scoring performances included Blum taking fourth in the 400 hurdles, Stangl finishing fifth in the 100 hurdles, Ella Sanford placing fifth in the high jump, McKenna Benton earning seventh in the shot put and Catherine Conner taking seventh in the 3,000-meter run.
Boys Recap
The IKM-Manning boys finished fifth in the Western Iowa Conference team standings with 74.5 points and were led by a conference championship performance in the 4x800-meter relay.
The relay team of Ben Ramsey, Isaac Blankman, Xaviore Diaz and Tyson Smith captured the title in 8:22.28, edging Riverside for the conference crown.
The time also moved the relay squad into third all-time in school history.
Smith also delivered a strong individual effort by placing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.55 seconds.
Ashton Ahrenholtz contributed heavily in the sprints, taking fifth in the 100-meter dash, fourth in the 200 and sixth in the 400.
Ahrenholtz’s 23.44 in the 200-meter dash also moved him into the top 10 in school history with the 10th-fastest time.
The Wolves added another podium relay finish in the 4x400 relay, where Ramsey, Diaz, Smith and Ahrenholtz placed third in 3:33.16. IKM-Manning also earned fourth in the distance medley relay.
In the field events, Jace Starman paced the Wolves with fourth-place finishes in both the shot put and discus.
Diaz tied for sixth in the high jump, while Brennen Morris and Luke Doyel finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the long jump.
IKM-Manning also received scoring performances from Akeo Maynard, who placed seventh in the 1,600-meter run and eighth in the 3,200, while Hunter Julin finished seventh in the 800-meter run.
The Wolves returned to action on Thursday night in Lake City for the Jim Yuneck Relays at South Central Calhoun high school.
