Spartans punch ticket to Regional Finals

The Exira-EHK varsity softball team punched their ticket into the Regional final on Saturday, with a triumphant victory over Fremont-Mills.

“I thought we were really aggressive at the plate,” said Exira-EHK Head Softball Coach Andrea Nulle. “The girls came into it with a hitter mindset. Everyone was making good contact, there weren’t a lot of pop-flys. We were hitting line drives at people and putting the pressure on them. I think our batting was a strong suit.”

The Spartans managed to score 11 runs in the game, while giving up just one run to Fremont-Mills.

“Defensively we knew what they were going to do,” Coach Nulle said. “They were going to try to bunt and steal. Defensively and offensively we were clicking on all levels.”

With the win the Spartans advance to the Substate final, which they are not unfamiliar with.

“We’ve been there twice in the last 2 years,” she added. “We’re excited to be there again, we don’t take it for granted. We’re excited and confident to play.”

They will go up against the #1 seed Southeast Warren, on July 11th at the Southeast Warren Softball Fields.
