Dixie Kathryn (Johnson) Larson, 96

 Dixie Kathryn (Johnson) Larson was one of 5 daughters born to Carl and Lula (Sheets) Johnson. She was born on January 17, 1927, at her parent’s home in Rural Harlan (Cuppy’s Grove), Iowa. She was delivered by her grandmother, Kathryn Sheets. She attended and graduated from Harlan High School in 1943. She went right to work at Harlan National Bank following graduation.
Dixie married Robert Wayne Larson at her parent’s home in Cuppy’s Grove, on December 5, 1946. Luanne Kathryn, Robert LeRoy, and Lynne Charmaine were born to this union.
Dixie began working at Farmers Savings Bank in Irwin, IA, and remained there until she retired in 1988. She loved supporting her children with their sporting events. She became a great cook of fish and game, as Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter.  She was most loved for her homemade tapioca pudding and had trouble finding a big enough bowl for her triple and quadruple batches.
After Bob passed away in 1988, Dixie moved from Irwin to Harlan.
She was baptized at and attended Altamont Baptist Church for many years. She went on to become a member of the United Methodist Church in Irwin, Iowa and later became a member at Abundant Life Church (now called Faith Family Church) in Harlan, Iowa. She was a faithful volunteer at the church bookstore for many years.
Dixie enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, and Skip-Bo. You could often find her tending to her flowers and her well-kept yard. Most of all, Dixie loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dixie passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Elm Crest Retirement Home in Harlan, Iowa attaining the age of 96 years, 3 months, and 28 days. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob on October 7, 1988, her son-in-law John Tucker, her great-granddaughter, Noah White, her 4 sisters: Mary (Herbert) Thomson, Helen Knudsen, Lucille (Robert) Pearson, and Martha (Donald) Larimore, and nephew Dan Knudsen.
Dixie is survived by her children, Luanne Tucker of Harlan, IA, Robert (Becky) Larson of Bettendorf, IA, Lynne (John) White of Harlan, IA; grandchildren, Lia (Steve) St. Martin of Taunton, MA, Bret (Heather) Larson of Bettendorf, IA, Brian (Lesley) Larson of Davenport, IA, Joel (Catherine) White of Harlan, IA, Jaurel (Brian) Grote of Earling, IA, Jeffrey (Abby) White of Ankeny, IA, Jacie (Tyler) Stuerman of Earling, IA; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Lyle Knudsen; nieces, nephews, and friends.
A 10:00 AM Funeral Service was officiated by Pastor Jeff Erlemeier at Faith Family Church in Harlan, Iowa.  Rebecca Erlemeier and Lorie Knudsen provided music for the service.  Lyle Knudsen, Mark Larson, Alan Larson, Randy Thompson, Jay Larimore, Reid Larimore, and Bob Robertson served as honorary casket bearers.  Bret Larson, Brian Larson, Joel White, Jeffrey White, Brian Grote, Tyler Stuerman, and Steve St. Martin served as casket bearers.  Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa.
Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
