High School Gears Up for Homecoming 2025: “Island Nights under Cyclone Lights”Harlan Community High School is ready to celebrate Homecoming 2025 with a week full of spirited traditions, exciting events, and plenty of Cyclone pride. This year’s theme is a Hawaiian Luau, with the slogan “Island Nights under Cyclone Lights.”

Homecoming Week ActivitiesThe fun begins Sunday, Oct. 5, with HOCO Flicks at 6 p.m. in the high school gym. Students are invited to enjoy a showing of Lilo & Stitch with free popcorn—blankets encouraged!Tuesday, Oct. 7, fans can support the volleyball team at their home match.Thursday, Oct. 9, the annual Powderpuff Game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Merrill Field, featuring senior girls on the field and senior boys performing as cheerleaders.Friday, Oct. 10, is packed with tradition: 1:10 p.m. Coronation in the high school gym. Doors open at 12:45 p.m. The 2025 Homecoming Court includes: Back row (L-R): Jackson Bieker, Jake Wageman, Gabe Arkfeld, Hagen Sorensen, Bartolo Perez, Paige Sonderman, Catherine Fah, Addison Wicks, Ari Daniels, and Carly Torneten.2 p.m. Parade through downtown Harlan, immediately following coronation. Floats, marching bands, and a community pep rally on the courthouse square will keep the energy high.7 p.m. Football Game at Merrill Field as the Cyclones take on the Perry Bluejays in the much-anticipated homecoming showdown.
Homecoming DanceThe week concludes with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8–11 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Admission is $6 or free with a Homecoming wristband. Students will enter through the dock doors.With traditions old and new, this year’s Hawaiian-themed celebration promises to bring the Harlan community together for a memorable week of “Island Nights under Cyclone Lights.”
