Cyclones hit two more homers, “rule” Titans 10-0
HARLAN (June 4) -- Madison Schumacher and Emily Brouse both belted a home run and Morgan Schaben pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts Monday as the Harlan Community softball team blew out Lewis Central 10-0 in six innings. HCHS scored three runs in the first inning, tacked on single tallies in the next four frames and finished off LC with a three-run sixth to snap a six-game slide against the struggling Titans, who dropped to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the Hawkeye Ten. Schumacher doubled home a run in the first and cracked her fourth home run of the season in the fourth as part of a 2-for-3, two-RBI night. Brouse went 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a solo bomb in the fifth. Tianna Kasperbauer also had a 2-for-3 game with a leadoff double in the second inning. The Cyclones (8-2 overall, 3-0 H-10) recorded their first win by the mercy rule over Lewis Central since a 13-3 decision in June of 2014.
