Big second quarter lifts Cyclones past Shenandoah 77-36
SHENANDOAH (Dec. 4) -- The Harlan Community boys basketball team took control of Friday’s game with a 32-6 second-quarter run and improved to 1-1 overall with a 77-36 Hawkeye Ten victory at Shenandoah. Connor Frame made 5-of-9 three-pointers and paced the Cyclones with 20 points as they made big strides offensively from Thursday’s home loss to Blair. Frame added five rebounds, four assists and three blocks to his point total while Michael Erlemeier finished with 13 points, five boards and three assists. “It was nice to get back on the floor after the very tough opening loss to Blair,” said HCHS head coach Mitch Osborn. “We started out slow again offensively but then hit four threes in the second quarter which got things jump started. Connor Frame bounced back from the Blair game with a very well-rounded game... It was great to see our reserves step up when they got their opportunity to play.” The Cyclones shot 49.1 percent from the field, including 10-of-22 from three-point range, and outrebounded the 0-2 Mustangs 43-24 with 14 offensive boards. They assisted on 21 of 28 baskets. Eleven HCHS players cracked the scoring column, including Brad Curren with nine points, Aidan Hall eight and Will McLaughlin five. Teagon Kasperbauer and Brayton Schechinger both scored five points off the bench and Kasperbauer also had a team-high four steals. Isaiah Ahrenholtz added four points and eight boards.
